CLASS SCHEDULE

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT CLASSES

All classes are held at our store location at 19 Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury, Connecticut, unless otherwise indicated.  For driving directions, please go to our directions page.  Class sizes are limited, so please register early.  You may register by phone or in person at our store.  Full payment is required at time of registration.  We accept cash, personal checks, Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.  Store credit will be issued for cancellations within five days of the first class session.  All materials and supplies must be purchased before the first class session unless otherwise stated.  A sewing machine is required for sewing and quilting classes and basic familiarity with its operation is assumed.  FabricTree reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment within five days of the first class session.

 

CLASSES FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH

Sewing for Young People -JoAnn Brown

Young people age 10 and up can join this class at anytime, space permitting. Learn to sew easy garments, home decorating items, toys, accessories, and more.  Limited enrollment to allow for individual attention.  Call for class availability.  This continues to be a popular class!

Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $20.00 per session or 6 sessions for $100.00

SEWING FOR ADULTS

4 X 4 Jacket - Hilda Downing

Sure to become a favorite, this casual-fit jacket has roomy front pockets (optional), a decorative button, and is fully lined. This is a great project to use up lots of scraps. Lots of pressing and sewing, but lots of fun!  Pattern required.

Make Friends with Your Sewing Machine - Gaynell Cooper

Did you just get a new sewing machine? Do you have a sewing machine that you haven’t used in a while or not at all? Bring it to this popular class and learn how to thread, adjust the settings, and conquer the fear of using it. Go home with a project!

Tuesday Adult Sewing - Gaynell Cooper

Come to this class to make your own machine-sewn projects from simple patterns. Learn to read the symbols and follow instructions to create a simple garment, tote bag, place mats, or other accessories. Not designed for large home decorating items. Small class size; don’t wait to register!

Meets Tuesdays unless otherwise announced  11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Cost: $15.00 per session

Saturday Adult Sewing - Gaynell Cooper

KNITTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS

Drop-In Knitting/Crocheting - JoAnn Brown

This "Thursday Drop-In" is designed for individualized instruction on your knitting or crocheting projects. No advance sign-up necessary. Just come whenever your schedule allows. JoAnn will get you started or help you with your problem to keep you going!

Meets every Thursday unless otherwise announced  1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

OR 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $12.00 per session

Entrelac Shawl - JoAnn Brown

Not only can you learn the fascinating technique of Entrelac, but you can discover a brand new self-striping yarn that adapts to the pattern perfectly. Two nights will get you well on your way!

Ruffled Roses Scarf - JoAnn Brown

You won’t believe how magic the yarn is for this most attractive project. It is a kind of ribbon, but really not, kind of mesh, but really not, but really does look like roses on the edge of this scarf. Knit from each end toward the middle; you will learn a simple lace pattern and simple rib as well as the edging. Pattern is free with class and yarn purchase.

Baby Surprise Jacket - JoAnn Brown

Let go! You will be knitting an adorable baby’s jacket in garter knit not knowing what is what and what will go where. All of a sudden, two little folds and the project is done. This project is a great one for beginners and experienced knitters alike. Pattern is free with the class and yarn purchase.

QUILTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS

Machine Quilting - Hilda Downing

Learn simple tactics that will help you to be more successful with your free-motion quilting. Anyone can conquer the “mystery” of quilting with some simple methods.

Rosy Runner - Hilda Downing

No time to make a full sized quilt? Skinny Quilts is the answer. Put a Rosy Runner on your table, the back of a chair or hang on a wall to bring flowers into your home. Excellent for beginners. A great first quilt project! Book required.

Tuesday, April 8, 15, 22 (3 weeks) 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Redwork/Applique Club - Gaynell Cooper

Create your own quilt sampler or other project from traditional hand embroidery or redwork (or blue work). Combine your blocks with those of other techniques if you wish. You may also do hand applique or any other handwork you like. Make it a relaxing evening to express your creativity. Many patterns will be available.

Meets Monthly, First Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Paper-Piecing Club - Kim Spinelli

This is an on-going class that teaches you the precision of the paper-piecing technique. Have more fun than you could ever dream of by using scraps and small pieces of fabrics. Patterns provided.

Meets Monthly, Last Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Pillow Class - Anita Ayoob

Another chance to make a pillow! Come and learn how to make a pillow with the professional  touch. You will make corded piping and insert a zipper the right way! Class size limited; register now!

Miranda Day Bag - Hilda Downing

This class is back again due to popular request! The perfect companion for a lady on the go. Loaded with 10 inside pockets, choose short or long fabric handles, or indulge in gorgeous fashion handles. Great for large scale prints. Pattern required.
